“The angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time and said, “I swear by myself, declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son, I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, and through your offspring all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”

-Genesis 22:15-18

SKIN: Strength & Substance

Our figures can be tied with fears and failures as our scars are presented on the surface of our skin. But there is a uniqueness in every blemish. Some characteristics of our physical appearance are unchangeable; our ethnicity is an innate part of our heritage.

Each fingerprint is unlike any other. Yet, from blisters to callouses, we can craft our bodies into an image that represents who we are. Our forms embody the tension of bruises and beauty, an elegant arch and cringing vein. These photographs display the intricacies and simplicities of our bodies. We are all structured the same way with reaching hands, striving footsteps, and transient breaths.

We are united in our one form, our likeness, our humanity, and the skin that covers us.
